Chain Reaction Show Postponed

Attn So Cal : We have some unfortunate news, due to Jordan injuring his Achilles tendon this past weekend at the Oakland GK Show we have no choice but to postpone the show scheduled for this Friday Night at Chain Reaction. Refunds will be available for all ticket buyers.

A statement from Jordan is below

“Huge thank you to the Oakland bay area for making the GK holiday show on Sunday night the

most perfect we’ve played all year. It was so indescribably fun and we have something really, really special and creative here! To see it this strong, for so many years now, it’s a really big deal, not just for the bands on the stage but for every one of us personally and as a unit.

So for everyone who was there Sunday night, I ruptured my Achilles tendon in my right leg and I have no idea how it happened. Really weird! But I wouldn’t have been able to play the show without you guys. Due to the severity of the injury, and some surgery and/or lengthy casting that’s going to happen, we will be forced to postpone our Chain Reaction show and for this I’m extremely sorry. We were excited to come down for this show and if it were possible we would. This is in the best interest of giving you all the best show we can. And we promise to do that as soon as we get a make-up date booked.

We’ll post up any updates regarding a rescheduled date once we have it all set via our Facebook, twitter(@setyourgoals) or setyourgoalsband.com so please follow!

The entire band and I just want to thank the whole bay area (our home!), and to everyone (everywhere) who came to an SYG show this year, who made a long drive, who took a second to say hi or share a story, took a minute to hear our songs, and just let us into your year in any way at all. Mike's departure from Set Your Goals

As many may know, Mikey will be playing his final shows with Set Your Goals on December 2nd and 7th, at the Metro Opera House in Oakland and Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Most importantly with this news, we want everyone to know that there are no hard feelings between anyone in the band and that we are/have always been friends above all else. Everyone in Set Your Goals wishes him the best in all of his future endeavors, music and otherwise. To answer a couple quick questions, we are indeed still working on new music for an album we’ll be recording in Orange County in January, and we’ll be taking to touring as soon as that is all finished up. Chad Gilbert will be producing with Paul Miner engineering, and Mike Green will be mixing everything in Los Angeles. Mike produced “This Will Be The Death Of Us” in 2009 and helped out with a few small pieces on “Burning At Both Ends” in 2011 as well. We are very excited about his involvement on the mixing side of the release, and we are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to work with Chad and Paul (whom we recorded the two digital iTunes singles with in February) on a full-length. We hope to have everything released in Summer 2013 with Epitaph. We plan to tour rigorously in support of the album and are stoked to return to some of the cities we haven’t played in a while.

Once more, we can’t wait to return to the studio and create new material to share with all of you again! The biggest thank you to everyone who keeps an eye out, drops a line to say hello, or even shares photos, videos, or stories from a show. Your continued support means the world to us and it’s what keeps us going through the ups and downs.

We wish all of you the best as this year comes to a close and we head into 2013.

POZ Road Noms: Set Your Goals (Japan)

The craziest food Dan and the guys have ever eaten was in Japan this past trip! Ok not really. But it was all tasty!

We’re wrapping up Dan Coddaire of Set Your Goals Road Noms journey to Asia today with the band’s trip to Japan. It’s been a fun week of posts, and we can’t wait to keep pushing forward with the band’s journeys through America. Check out the final Asia update below!

We spent the last five days and four shows of our trip in Japan. Since this was our fourth time to Japan we’ve come to know what to expect and where to go to get what we want. Nothing too crazy went down, but everything I ate was for sure delicious.

A nice simple dish of oyako donburi, poached chicken with scrambled eggs and onions on rice. It was about 2 in the morning in Osaka when I went out to get this so I wasn’t looking for anything complicated. Hit the spot.

A merry-go-round/boat style sushi spot in Osaka Mikey and I found after a bit of a search. Well-worth it though. I didn’t take any pictures because you know what sushi looks like, although I did have a piece of pork belly sushi which was pretty cool. Each dish cost around $1 each. So we spent roughly $10-12 to get completely stuffed on sushi. Perfect.

In Nagoya a bunch of us got these hearty bowls of ramen. I got mine spicy and with extra pork. So good.

Dan Coddaire of Set Your Goals is back for his third Road Noms entry from the band’s recent trip to Asia. In his new entry, Dan tackles the band’s trip to Indonesia and was brave enough to recap his adventure with King Cobra blood (not joking), among many other lovely delicacies. Check it all out and try not to get too big of an appetite below!

After the Philippines we spent a few days and played a couple of shows in Indonesia. In that time I ate some things I never thought I would try in my life. And it was awesome.

We stopped at this place in Jakarta, King Cobra, which specializes in all things snake-related, for a quick refreshment.

And next thing you know he’s holding a headless snake!

Fill ‘er up.

A cup of cobra blood. And a mint for after.

So yeah a bunch of us drank that and it was ok. They added arrack, a palm liquor, to it and it kind of ended up tasting like a shot of alcoholic soy sauce. The funniest part though was that we were told not to drink any coffee or tea for 4 hours. Apparently the blood gives you some sort of stimulant which won’t react well with caffeine and sugar? And they also said eating durian fruit afterwards can be deadly. Yeah, all I had for those 4 hours was water.

He’s back…and more courageous than ever? We kicked off Road Noms last week with Dan Coddaire of Set Your Goals, and he’s checking back in with his recent food escapades in the Philippines. If you’re curious about what balut (half-incubated duck) tastes like, don’t miss out on reading up below!

The second stop on our Asian tour was Manila in The Philippines. Although I didn’t get a chance to go out and discover any cool spots to eat, the rad people at Pulp Live brought us some traditional Filipino food that was really good, and slightly scary.

This was basically a mixed grill that included fish, chicken, clams, oysters and there’s even a crab sticking its claw out there. Tasty.

Some carnitas-style pork. Loved it.

I don’t honestly remember what was in the container on the left, but that shrimp noodle dish was good. The container on the right was a stew with a creamy, spicy broth and large slices of tripe. I had a slice and it was pretty good actually.
